Many wars have been fought in distant lands
As the proud and brave journeyed into battle
Leaving behind loved ones and their homes
Honor to serve held in their heart and hand
In every war there is always a price to pay
Its not just one who suffers wars tragedy alone
As loved ones walk with a prayer day and night
Waiting to hear the battle is over end of the fight
Proud to serve knowing they may not return
They gallantly give their all to be victorious
Through blood, sweat and tears war is HELL
Its kill or be killed horror most don't ever tell
When war is over and the hero comes home
Everything seems O.K. because he or she survived
Loved ones know those who paid the ultimate price
Feeling lucky until they hear the screams in the night
They watch their hero slowly crumble waste away
What could be wrong after all they came home
The government knows but rather look the other way
Ignore responsibility because they may have to pay
They don't want you to know your hero suffers PTSD
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder the name they give
For the HELL your hero lives through day after day
As the thought of a brother left behind POW-MIA
Your hero carries this thought all the time as they cry
Wondering why they made it back to live half a life
Government had a name for every war that took place
From Battle Fatigue, Shell Shock and now PTSD
Yes war is HELL and there is a price to pay
Those who made it suffer still and those left behind
Those that paid the ultimate price are inside the gates
Jesus with many others were there to welcome them in
OF FREEDOM & WAR we must always stand strong
Remember our Veterans stand up for them they gave
THEIR ALL
